about

All these songs feature beats from the Elektron Machinedrum, recently demoted to "legacy" product by the manufacturer. I bought one used and some of beats heard in these tunes were left on the machine by the previous owner. I tried to tweak everything but thanks to GYS for any of his excellent work that's stil audible in the mix (notably, the three claps in "Three Claps Dub").

Am continuing to use a Linux PC to record, mix, and arrange. Ardour is the DAW, with plugins such as a-fluidsynth (triggering delectable E-Mu vintage soundfonts), LSP limiter, a-reverb, Harrison triple delay, and the Helm and Loomer Aspect synths. SID-chip-based hardware such as ALM Busy Circuits' SIDGuts Deluxe module and the SammichSID can also be heard. Also making an appearance is the Elektron Octatrack, which has not been discontinued.

Notes on the individual songs can be found on my blog at tommoody.us/archives/category/music-tm/ or searching the site archives at tommoody.us

about

Tom Moody New York, New York

"The sound world [in Melding Principle] is very finely calibrated; your ear for pairing the very pure and the klangorous has become remarkably deft. That makes it easy for the listener to latch onto the layered melodies. (Howl Din)

"[Y]our musical works exploit the aesthetic paradoxes of telecommunications and computer technologies and the social fantasies attached to them."
(Pierre-Luc Verville)
